North Jakarta International School (NJIS) was founded in 1990, registered and licensed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education. NJIS is an independent, co-educational international school for Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12. NJIS follows a progressive U.S. based international curriculum, and is fully accredited by Accrediting Commission for Schools and Colleges (WASC), NJIS is also a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS). Pre-K and Kindergarten programs are designed to develop the youngest of learners in an Early Childhood Education program which emphasizes the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of each child. The Lower School curriculum provides a solid foundation in all learning areas: language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, fine arts, technology, and physical education. The core is based on a sequential presentation of skills at each grade level, reflecting coordination with USA subject specific standards. The program of Middle School strives to achieve a balance between the rigorous demands of a college preparatory school and the needs of a growing adolescent. In Grades 9-12, NJIS offers a vigorous curriculum designed to offer each student a unique opportunity for learning and personal growth as students progress through a college preparatory program.
